Emily Schroeder-Willis

Emily Schroeder-Willis

Ceramics, Porcelain as the main clay body with the use of light glazes.

Phrases that stood out for me.
  • Elements
    of touch, intimacy and mark
making are extremely important to the work that I make
  • I see my fingerprints as a sort of brush stroke.
  • Sometimes what is present is the mark of what is absent.

With the work hinting at fragility I think that I can relate to it myself, the work looks like it would break if you as much as brushed passed it. The aspect of fragility has been something that I have looked into before with work from Claire Curneen.

The use of porcelain adds an immediate hint of fragility to the work. Due to this fragility I think Maeve would be interested in this, but this would be the only connection. I think that Saoirse could also relate to this work, again dealing with the issue of fragility.
